Watership Down (1978, animated and fantasy)

A group of wild rabbits, heeding a foreboding omen from one of their own (psychic Fiver, voiced by Richard Briers), set out into the dangerous world to find a new warren. The grim and often brutal story is offset nicely by strong characters voiced by some truly fine actors (including John Hurt, Nigel Hawthorne, and Zero Mostel). Based on the novel by Richard Adams.
