That Darn Cat (1997, screwball and mystery)
They removed the exclamation point, the Siamese cat, and a lot of the charm from this Disney remake of its own 1965 film. The purr-fect crime is perpetrated once again when a woman is kidnapped, and the FBI, Darn Cat, and his mistress (Christina Ricci) step in to solve it. Aside from that, the story has totally changed its stripes. D.C. is played by a rather tough-looking alley cat type who is cute, but doesn't have the er, "breeding" of his predecessor. Although the plot's as unpedigreed as the feline gumshoe, this movie's credits acknowledges the original novel by The Gordons.
