Secret of N.I.M.H., The (1982, animated and mystery)

Mrs. Brisby has got it bad. Not only is she vermin (a mouse), but she's been recently widowed, her youngest son is sick, and her home is about to be flattened by a tractor. She seeks the guidance of the Rats of N.I.M.H., led by Nicodemus (voiced by Derek Jacobi). They are intelligence-enhanced lab rats who've escaped from the National Institute of Mental Health, and they were connected to the late Mr. Brisby in a way his widow would never guess. Sequels include The Secret of N.I.M.H. 2: Timmy to the Rescue (1998), and The Secret of N.I.M.H. 3: Beginning (2001). Based on the novel Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H. by Robert C. O'Brien. (.Why "Frisby" was changed to "Brisby"? You got me.)
