Hatari! (1962, adventure and drama)

John Wayne and an ensemble cast run roughshod over the African Serengeti filling orders from zoos all over the world for wild animals. Hatari!, which means 'danger' in Swahili, has quite a cast of kooky characters, including a female photographer from a Swiss zoo who's along for the ride and acquires baby elephants at every turn (one of the pachyderm players, Congo , was a resident of the Dubbo Zoo until his death in 2000). Composer Henry Mancini wrote a transitory piece of incidental music to go with a scene during which a young calf is taken for a walk - the simple tune became an international hit known as "Baby Elephant Walk". A TV series followed.
